Peter Lax - Partner
Peter Lax

Peter is joint head of the commercial disputes team and was a leading individual in the Chambers Directory - a directory listing the leading lawyers and firms in the country.


Peter specialises in general commercial litigation, construction disputes, insolvency, employment and defamation matters, having acted for some of the regionís major newspapers.
Heather Bell - Partner
Heather Bell

Heather is joint head of the commercial disputes team and has extensive experience of resolving commercial disputes.  She has been a commercial lawyer with some of the countryís largest firms.

Heather specialises in construction and insurance disputes as well as general commercial litigation and retains an interest in aviation and equestrian matters.

Richard Cooper - Associate

Richard Cooper

Richard trained with the firm and therefore has a strong background in dealing with a wide range of complex commercial work. Richard has been involved in numerous High Court cases and conducted reported cases in the Court of Appeal. He also has expertise in mediation. Richard is particularly interested in all aspects of professional negligence claims, insolvency, partnership disputes and cases involving fraud.
Angela Davis - Consultant

Angela was a leading individual listed in the Chambers Directory in the field of Asset Finance Litigation. Angela retains a keen interest in general commercial litigation and is a Consultant at the firm assisting in the most heavyweight of matters while managing the firmís Quality accreditation.

Kate Garrett - Solicitor

Kate Garrett

Kate handles a varied commercial caseload with a strong emphasis on employment law. Kate recently conducted a lengthy hearing at the Employment Tribunal concerning important issues such as to the status of agency workers, and whether they have the same rights as other employees working at the Company where they provide their services. 
Adrian Denton - Trainee Solicitor

Adrian joined the firm in September 2006. He went to Leeds University and joined the Royal Navy as a Warfare Officer in 1996. After passing out of Britannia Royal Naval College as a Commissioned Officer he served onboard various warships in Fighter Aircraft Control.

Having 'seen the world' and in pursuit of a new challenge Adrian left the Navy in 2005 for a legal career. At the College of Law in Birmingham he gained a commendation on the Graduate Diploma in Law and a Distinction on the Legal Practice Course.

As a qualified Unit Expedition leader and Royal Yachting Association Day skipper, his interests include walking and sailing.

Nick Thomas - Trainee Solicitor

Nick was Deputy Head Boy of Bishop Vesey's Grammar School, Sutton Coldfield. He read law at Liverpool University, graduating with an upper second class degree and went on to complete the Legal Practice course in Birmingham with a commendation. While at the College of Law, his elective subjects were commercial dispute resolution and commercial law. Nick is now in his second year as a trainee solicitor.

Since joining the firm in September 2005 he has acted as an advocate before the industrial tribunal and assisted Peter Lax with a heavyweight commercial dispute, gaining hands on experience in all aspects of preparing the case for trial. These included dealing with the client, barrister and expert witness and then being part of the team in court on a daily basis.

Outside of work a lot of Nick's spare time is taken up as a local Scout leader and enjoying the great outdoors.

Morgan Rees - Trainee Solicitor

Morgan attended King Edward's School, Aston where he was captain of debating.  He makes full use of his debating skills at Bell Lax, appearing before district Judges and handling Employment Tribunal hearings.  He is currently training to be a solicitor-advocate to gain rights of audience before all courts in England and Wales.


A graduate of Cardiff University, since joining the firm Morgan has enjoyed a wide variety of work including employment proceedings, landlord and tenant disputes and a multi-party nuisance claim with a group litigation order.  Morgan has acted for a number of local companies and businesses as well as clients from the EU and USA.  Morgan is currently assisting Heather Bell in a number of professional negligence cases concerning architects, surveyors and solicitors.


Morgan has a keen interest in legal history and is a member of the Selden Society at Lincolnís Inn.  He has a rusting ability in German and Spanish and is endeavouring to learn Hungarian.

Suzanne Holder - Practice Manager

Susan Holder

Suzanne has been with Bell Lax Litigation since its inception in 1995 and has been instrumental in the firmís growth and success, providing management and accounts support.
